Since I started using the internet I have been using the in-build bookmark manager of whatever browser I am using.

A good bookmark manager needs to do two things.

  1. Easily and quickly add links
  2. Easily and quickly retrieve and access the link

The in-build browser bookmark managers are great at point 1 however they are miserable at point 2.

They do not have any functionality that helps users easily search and retrieve the bookmark that you might have saved a few months or years ago.

A few weeks back I stumbled upon a bookmark manager called raindrop.io which promised to help with point 2 above, so I downloaded the app and have been using it for a few weeks now.

Getting started was easy.

Download the app or the chrome extension & sign up.

Once you have the chrome extension set up, to add any link to the bookmark, you need to click on the extension icon and click save.

At the time of saving raindrop will ask you in which collection you want to save the link. The collection is nothing but a folder.

Once you select the collection you can add various tags related to the link. For example, for any Tech news article that you save, you can tag it as #news #tech #technews.

Tagging will eventually help you in finding the bookmark at a later time. After a month when you come back you can filter all the links which are tagged with #technews.

For me, tagging and the ability to search for the bookmark feature was what sold me to try out this product, and it did not disappoint.

If you have a lot of bookmarks and struggle to keep them organized then Raindrop is for you.

Thanks for reading.
